Fundraising

Troop 53 has the good fortune of having to conduct only one major fundraiser annually, which is our Christmas Tree Sale. We have very experienced parents and leaders organizing this event, and it runs like clockwork every year. The scouts and parents staff the tree sale weekends and evenings from the day after Thanksgiving until the weekend before Christmas. To make this work, parents contribute 16 hours per family to staff the tree sale, while scouts are encouraged to work as many hours as they want to earn money in their “scout accounts”. The Tree Sale is a great experience in a real business enterprise, not to mention a lot of fun - as well as the rewarding seasonal spirit. We also have optional participation in the council’s fall Popcorn sale (unit commissions apportioned into individual “Scout Accounts”).
